What is Good Treatment for Substance Use Disorders? Implications for Criminal Justice Responses (Zoom Program)

Wednesday, November 18, 2020 | 3:00pm - 4:30pm UTC

Dr. James McKowen

Co-sponsored with the Center for Law, Brain & Behavior at Massachusetts General Hospital, this Zoom program is the fourth seminar of the Neuroscience and Law Series for Massachusetts Judges.

Given high rates of substance use in those in the criminal justice system, many decisions regarding how to best address this issue are often made in the absence of evidence-based information. This presentation will cover types of effective treatment interventions in those with addiction as well as discuss the role of recovery and tailoring treatment to a person’s individualized substance use and mental health needs.
