[Massachusetts Alcohol and Substance Abuse Center is a minimum level facility that receives and treats men who are civilly committed under the Section 35 statute. This means that the courts have found the commitments to be a danger to themselves or others based on their substance and/or alcohol abuse. Commitments for up to 90 days. There is a small permanent workforce that is comprised of minimum security inmates. Men participate in detoxification program that consists of treatment – all men leave with a discharge plan for ongoing community treatment and support.
