Surviving Civil: Common Issues in Managing Civil Cases

This full-day interdepartmental program for Massachusetts judges will focus on common issues that arise in managing civil cases. The program agenda will cover:
- Rules of Civil Procedure
- Dispositive Motions
- Practical Tips for Handling Discovery Motions
- Contempt
- Attorneys’ Fees/Fee Shifting
- Settlement in Civil Cases
Ample time will be allotted for participants to ask questions of the panelists and presenters. There will also be “choose your topic” breakout discussions on: (1) Chapter 93A Cases, (2) Collections, and (3) Zoning & Land Use.
This program is “a must” for newer judges; it will also serve as an opportunity for more experienced judges to exchange ideas and techniques with their colleagues.
