Surviving Civil II (In-Person Program)

This full-day program is designed to prepare judges to hear common and routine civil motions. The training will review many of the Massachusetts Rules of Civil Procedure and the cases that interpret those rules. It will be taught in an interactive format involving the participation of the judges attending, directed by fellow judges who will facilitate the discussions. Comprehensive written materials will be provided to the judges attending.

The content of the program will include topics such as:

•    Service of Process
•    Long Arm Jurisdiction
•    Attachments and Trustee Process
•    Motions for Summary Judgment
•    Motions to Dismiss
•    Discovery and Sanctions
•    Default and Default Judgment

The afternoon will also feature a presentation on Chapter 93A, the consumer protection statute.

The program is intended for judges of all experience levels. Attendance is limited to 80 judges, so we would encourage you to respond promptly.
