Both seasoned Superior Court judges and savvy members of the trial bar will provide practical advice on a wide range of common and complex issues that often arise over the course of criminal jury trials. A sample of advanced jury issues to be discussed are:

  • Pre-trial motions, voir dire requests, jury questionnaires and unusual motions-in-limine, etc.
  • Methods of jury empanelment, for cause and peremptory challenges, etc.
  • Proper and improper opening statement and closing arguments, etc.
  • Curative instructions, and maintaining juror impartiality in the digital age, etc.
  • New approaches to instructing the jury, etc.
