Memorials that Embrace Truth (Zoom Program)
A Discussion with Jha D Amazi
Moderated by Hon. Angel Kelley, U.S. District Court
*This is a Zoom program*
From the Publisher: A memoir by one of America’s most accomplished public servants and legal thinkers—who spent years denying and working around his blindness, before finally embracing it as an essential part of his identity.
Attend and learn about the vision and design of memorials that embrace truth. This discussion of architecture and landscapes with Jha D Amazi, Principal at MASS Design Group, will include these notable projects, among others:
The National Memorial for Peace and Justice
2018 – Montgomery, AL
“The Embrace” – Hank Willis Thomas
2023 – Boston, MA
Jha D Amazi believes that the narratives upheld in our public realm should be expanded to represent, honor, and celebrate the experiences, histories, and cultures of people who have been historically denied representation in our memorial landscape.
