Interview with Dr. Natoschia Scruggs (Zoom Program)
*This is a Zoom program*
Please join the Flaschner Judicial Institute as we celebrate and recognize the 20th Anniversary of the Massachusetts Access to Justice Commission for a conversation with Natoschia Scruggs, Ph.D., Chief Officer of the Access, Diversity, and Fairness Office (OADF) of the Massachusetts Trial Court.
Moderated by Superior Court Judge Valerie A. Yarashus (co-chair of the Massachusetts Access to Justice Commission), this 60-minute Zoom discussion will feature Dr. Scruggs’s vision and approach to the work of her office, as well as her plans for her tenure. The Access to Justice Commission, on its 20th Anniversary, is working with Dr. Scruggs on their joint goals, and co-chair Marijane Benner Browne, Esq. (Director of Global Lateral Partner Recruiting, Ropes & Gray) will also participate in the webinar. Both panelists will talk in particular about how the Access the Justice Commission works together with Dr. Scruggs and her team, and how this joint coordination benefits the Trial Court.
Dr. Scruggs leads the Trial Court’s Office of Access, Diversity and Fairness, which comprises the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; the Office for Language Access; the Office of Court Service Centers; the Office of Access to Justice and the User Experience; the Office of Alternative and Online Dispute Resolution; and the Department of Court Records and Transcripts. She has more than two decades of experience developing and overseeing strategic plans, projects, and initiatives to promote equitable and inclusive cultures.
The Massachusetts Access to Justice Commission seeks to achieve equal justice for all persons in the Commonwealth by providing leadership and vision to, and coordination with, the many organizations and interested persons involved in providing and improving access to justice for those unable to afford counsel for their essential civil legal needs.
The Flaschner Judicial Institute recently launched a new Interview Series that includes discussions with people central to the Massachusetts court system. There will be dedicated time for Q&A with Dr. Scruggs.
