Implicit Racial Bias and the Bench: Issues Arising in Civil Cases

Designed for trial judges by trial judges, this afternoon program will assist judges from the Housing Court, Land Court, Juvenile Court, and Probate and Family Court to better recognize and address implicit bias in the courtroom.

The program format will include small group discussions of different scenarios intended to explore if and how implicit bias may play a role in civil proceedings, as well as possible remedies for minimizing the expression of bias.
