Description:

Ruling on evidence is one of the primary responsibilities of every judge. Taught by experts in the field of evidence, this full-day educational program for both new and experienced judges will focus on current and emerging evidentiary issues (both criminal and civil). The day-long agenda will include presentations by each of the faculty, with time allotted for Q&A and discussion with colleagues.

This year’s all-new topics will be:

  • Confrontation Clause
  • Admissibility of Evidence from Personal Electronic Devices
  • Issues involving Self-Represented Litigants
  • Miscellaneous Criminal Issues (Third Party Culprit and Bowden, Statements of Co-Venturers, Substantive Use of Prior Recorded Testimony, Rule 17 and Dwyer-Lampron)
  • Hearsay Decisions and Rape Shield Issues
  • Documentary Evidence, including Business, Hospital and Medical Records
  • Significant Decisions in 2019
