This half-day Evidence program for new and experienced judges will cover current and emerging evidentiary topics, with a focus on issues that arise in civil cases. Taught by experts in the field of Evidence, the agenda will include presentations by four members of the Supreme Judicial Court Advisory Committee on Massachusetts Evidence Law, with time allotted for Q&A and discussion.
The speakers and topics will include:
- Hon. Hélène Kazanjian, Superior Court – Use of witnesses’ prior statements
- Hon. Barbara Hyland, Probate and Family Court – Electronic evidence and authentication
- Elizabeth N. Mulvey, Esq., Libby Hoopes Brooks & Mulvey, P.C. – Use of discovery materials at trial
- Prof. Jasmine Gonzales Rose, Boston University School of Law – Mitigating implicit racial bias in civil evidence determinations
