DNA Evidence Primer: What you Need to Know

The program will begin with a presentation by a representative from the State Police Crime Laboratory which will give an overview of the DNA Unit, explain how evidence is collected and tested, and how testing results are expressed.
This will be followed by a panel presentation on the following topics:
- Government compelled DNA production;
- Discovery and case management issues;
- Evidentiary issues at trial; and
- Post-trial testing issues under G. L. c. 278A.
This program is part of the Superior Court Newer Judges Seminar Series, but all trial court judges who confront DNA evidence are invited to attend.
