Thursday, May 17, 2018 | 2:00pm - 4:00pm UTC

Ava DuVernay’s Oscar-nominated Netflix documentary 13TH analyzes the criminalization of African Americans and the U.S. prison boom. The film offers valuable lessons and raises important questions for judges committed to fairness in our criminal justice system.

Northeastern Law Professor Deborah A. Ramirez will lead a spirited and enlightening conversation. We will examine how key themes and questions raised in the thought-provoking documentary can be instructive to Massachusetts practice and the role judges play.

Please note: We will not be showing the documentary at the program. We ask that you watch the documentary 13TH on Netflix prior to the program (1hr, 40m).
