We mourn the loss of Hon. Barbara A. Lenk, a distinguished jurist, trailblazer, and beloved member of the Flaschner Judicial Institute community, who passed away earlier this week at the age of 75. Justice Lenk devoted nearly three decades to public service as a judge, including nine years on the state’s highest court.
Justice Lenk joined the FJI Board of Trustees in December 2011 and served as President & Dean from 2017 to 2020. During her tenure, she guided Flaschner through the important transition to independence from the Social Law Library. Her wisdom and enthusiasm for judicial education helped shape our future and inspired all who worked with her. Upon her retirement from the Board in 2020, she was named an Emeritus Trustee.
Justice Lenk will be remembered for her brilliant intellect, dedication to fairness, and extraordinary generosity of spirit. We are deeply grateful for her leadership and lasting contributions to the judiciary and to Flaschner. She will be greatly missed.
