The Flaschner Judicial Institute completed a Chief Executive Officer transition in mid-January 2025, with Hon. Peter W. Agnes, Jr. (ret.) stepping down and Hon. Julie J. Bernard (ret.) assuming the new role.
Justice Peter Agnes began serving as FJI CEO in April 2020, following his retirement from the Appeals Court. His FJI tenure was marked by innovative programming, new publications, and boundless amounts of energy and enthusiasm.
Having served for two years as FJI Board Chair and a Flaschner Trustee since 2020, Judge Julie Bernard brings enormous experience and leadership continuity with her to this new position. Judge Bernard is looking forward to focusing on judicial education after her recent retirement from the District Court. She plans to reach out to sitting judges to elicit new ideas and suggestions.
