Electronic Discovery: The New SJC Rules and Emerging Issues

Tuesday, March 4, 2014 | 1:00pm - 4:30pm EST

The Supreme Judicial Court has enacted new rules as of January 1, 2014, amending the Massachusetts Rules of Civil Procedure to incorporate, for the first time, many new electronic discovery concepts into Massachusetts practice.

Electronic discovery has become the sine qua non of all modern litigation, both large and small. Every judge and litigator is expected to be conversant with electronic discovery concepts, including: data retention, preservation, litigation holds, collection, processing, hosting, review and production of data.

At this afternoon program, judges will learn the basics of electronically stored information (ESI), the substance and application of the new rules, as well as practical tips for positively impacting the discovery process in their courtrooms.
