Correctional Facility Tour – MCI-Framingham and South Middlesex Correctional Center

Please join us for a walk-through of the inner workings of the following correctional facilities, as well as a general overview of how the Department of Correction works from DOC Leadership and Staff. Judges will learn pertinent information on intake, assessment, classification, offender programs, opportunities for treatment, discipline, medical care, reentry, etc., as well as gain insight into the lives of inmates serving sentences in state prisons.

About MCI-Framingham and South Middlesex Correctional Center

MCI-Framingham is a medium security committing correctional facility for female offenders. It is noted as the oldest female correctional institution in operation in the United States. The facility houses women at various classification levels, including state sentenced and county offenders, and awaiting trial inmates. MCI-Framingham provides numerous program and treatment opportunities.

South Middlesex Correctional Center is a 200 bed facility for minimum status and prerelease female inmates within the Department of Correction. As a Minimum Security and Prerelease facility, SMCC is not within a secure perimeter and there are no lock-in cells. SMCC is a facility where inmates are preparing to reenter society.
